When I think of family, I immediately think of my mother. She was the center of our little clan....the glue that held everything and everyone together. So much more than merely a Mom, this great lady was my very best friend.
She loved her children, with all her heart, and would often tell us, "I'd lay down my life for one of my own." Turns out that she did. Through her unexpected death from an aneurysm, we learned that my younger sister had several blood clots in her brain. One very painful, invasive brain brain surgery later, and my sister is clot free! When I get that ache of missing her I remember her sacrifice.... her giving spirit, and think to myself how blessed I was to call her family.

ReplyDeleteIt is sad, but through her death, there have also been blessings: all of her organs were donated, and, she saved my sister's life. She would be pretty happy about that.
DeleteBeautifully spoken. Sorry for your loss.
