November is a wonderful time for our family as it marks the beginning of the festival season for our family's religious traditions, Christianity and Hinduism, as well as Islamic New Year in our adopted home of Kuwait. There is something so satisfying about the diyas and mandalas of our Diwali celebrations. The idea of casting out the darkness and welcoming the beauty of a fresh start that joins up so perfectly with the themes of gratitude, giving and family that follow in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Happy Diwali, Happy New Year 1434 to my Muslim friends and bring on the Christmas carols!
