Theme #6 - A memory

                                           Name: Alisha, Location: Bairnsdale, Australia

A great memory i love, is when my husband and I travelled to China 2 years ago.
On this particular day we were driving through the mountains to go see The Great Wall. As soon as i got a glimpse of it i felt overwhelmed, tears in my eyes, but tears of joy to be seeing this amazing part of history.

A Memory of Olives

Name: Annette
 Location: Kuwait

As I prepared Thanksgiving dinner this year, I was overwhelmed by a memory of my grandmother as I dished out olives onto our relish tray. Grandma's contribution to our feasts was always a relish tray, full of carrots, radishes and celery in addition to a dish consisting of green and black olives. My siblings and I would descend on the dish of olives as soon as Grandma arrived, to the extent she had to bring an extra jar of both to refill the dish before dinnertime. When she passed away in 1999, I found I couldn't bring myself to eat olives anymore. This was the first year I have had olives at our Thanksgiving, the first year that I was able to speak to my children about their great-grandmother and her contribution to our dinner. But, I'm not sure the taste will ever be quite the same.

Memories

Name:Amy
Location: Wassenaar, Holland

As my memory isn't what it used to be, this particular memory is so vivid! My dad & I decided since it was a beautiful day to go bike the trails. These trails are not for the meek of heart {well those who ride their bike more than for 5 minutes}! It was filled with sunburned, aching legs & bums, laughter & encouragement. Thank you dad. :0)

Theme- A {Special} Memory

Name:  Trinity
Location:  Mississippi, USA

I have so many special memories with my family, throughout my life:  get-togethers, fun vacations, even everyday moments like cooking, or raking the leaves on a Fall day.  One recent special memory is my family trip to the zoo.  Eight, very brave adult family members, took three teenagers, six children (under the age of 10), AND two babies, to the New Orleans Zoo for the day.   Did I mention the two hour drive there and back, complete with my oldest getting car sick.....twice?!  I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

Theme #6 - Memory of a Family

Name: Amanda
Location: Tangerang Selatan - Indonesia

"It was an old photo which was taken on my mom's cousin's wedding. The only photo left which shows me that I had a complete family once. Now... my parents already separated while my Nana already past away. I never regret what already happened to my family. But I had to admitted that sometimes, I do missed those happy moment where I have my parent living together under the same roof. I do missed my Late Grandma's wisdom and her delicious food. Yes I do miss those moments. But life must go on. Right?"

Gratitude - time

Name: Megan
Location: Utah, USA

"There are so many things to say we are thankful for. It's sort of hard to just pick one to share. I thought about time, family, my husband, etc. Most of all I am thankful for time. Time to be with the ones we love. Time to meet new people, try new things, travel to new places, learn something new, make the most of each day we are given. It's great to have a new morning to start "fresh", start over, make a difference or make a dent in the "to do" list. We really embraced our summerTIME doing over 200 things/adventures in 100 days. I am grateful for each day and the time I am given."

Grateful to those who came before

Name: Annette
Location: Kuwait

One thing I truly love about India is the enormous importance that is placed on remembering ancestors and relatives who have gone before. Almost every Indian home, from the tiniest of shacks to the grandest of mansions has a corner adorned with photos, often decorated with flowers. Not that these photos are merely looked at. Daily prayers are said in rememberance of the sacrifices, hard work and love that have resulted in the lives that we enjoy today. I think often about my own relatives, the hardships they endured. The wars they fought in. The tragedies that they quietly endured. So on this day of thanks, of gratitude, I am especially thankful for those who lived so I can return the favor to future generations. Happy Thanksgiving to you, and your families, past, present and future.

Graditude~My hubcap {husband}

Amy
Wassenaar, Holland

Almost 13 years ago, my sweet husband decided to make a HUGE decision in his life. To be the father of a 2 year old darling little girl! I cannot express the LOVE and GRATITUDE that I have towards this man for taking on the responsibility of being the BEST father, provider, helper, & listener that any little girl could have been blessed with. Thank you for being her dad!

Gratitude- My Daughters

Name:  Trinity
Location:  MS Gulf Coast, USA

I am thankful for so many things in this life of mine:  salvation, family, friends, our military men/women....the list is long.   Two definite list toppers are my very busy, very silly, very happy, little girls.  Chasing behind them is a full time job and one that definitely keeps me on my toesSometimes, my heart actually aches with the intensity of love I feel for them.  Why God ever thought I deserved these two is beyond me.

Theme #5 Gratitude

Name: Amanda
Location: Tangerang Selatan - Indonesia

'It was an old picture which I like a lot. I remember it was christmas about 2 years ago. Our Crochet-Knitting Community went to visit an orphanage near to my house. And most of us totally in love with this handsome baby Rudi. Here.. I found a proof that kindness and gratitude is beyond every thing including religion. Why so? The head of this orphanage told us that before they can build this catholic orphanage, a moslem family lend them a house where they can stay for free. And now after they can build their own place, even though most of the head, administrator and caretaker are catholic, this ABHIMATA orphanage was open for every one'

Festival Season

Name: Annette
Location: Kuwait

November is a wonderful time for our family as it marks the beginning of the festival season for our family's religious traditions, Christianity and Hinduism, as well as Islamic New Year in our adopted home of Kuwait. There is something so satisfying about the diyas and mandalas of our Diwali celebrations. The idea of casting out the darkness and welcoming the beauty of a fresh start that joins up so perfectly with the themes of gratitude, giving and family that follow in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Happy Diwali, Happy New Year 1434 to my Muslim friends and bring on the Christmas carols!

Season- Fall/Winter/Summer/Spring

Name:  Trinity
Location:  MS Gulf Coast, USA

If the title, "Fall/Winter/Summer/Spring" sounds confusing, it's only because our weather IS.....confusing that is.  Around here, it's not out of the question to have a temperature change of over 40 degrees in a few short hours.     Just yesterday, in fact, we had early morning temps in the 70's, and afternoon lows in the 40's.

I've worn bathing suits at Christmas and winter boots during Easter. As you can see in the picture, it was definitely warm during that particular Christmas.   It's pretty much like they say......."In Mississippi, if you don't like the weather.....wait a few hours, because it'll change soon enough".....except for summer, because summer is ALWAYS unbearably HOT!

Theme #4 - Warm it up

Name: Amanda
Location: Lembang - Indonesia

"I know I usually post 1 pic every week, but I really want to share this one. Remember my previous pic? Well.. a friend of mine was too tired to join us, so he just asked us to bring him a grilled corn. And we did. But by the time we arrived back, the corn was totally cold. What happened then?? Well.. I think this pic can tell you enough right?"

Theme #4 - Season

Name: Amanda
Location: Lembang - Indonesia

"Here in Indonesia we only know 2 season. Summer and Rainy season. But there are some city who always had a cold temperature in both summer and rainy season. Just like Lembang (where this pic was taken few months ago). After having a full day meeting, we decided to escape from hotel to find some midnight snack in this 'saung' which can be found along the road. Everything was in traditional way. Like no chair, so you have to sit on 'tikar' which covered the floor. And don't think of fancy food. They only sell instant noodle, grilled uli, grilled corn and rabbit satay. "

Theme #4 - Season

This weeks theme is Season. With 7 women living in all different parts of world - what season are they in currently? What does it look like? What are some of the things they like to do in the season? What's their favorite part of the current season?

Stay tuned this week as some of these questions will get answered!

Family - my favorite bunch

Almost 8 years ago I married my best friend, who I met the only time I attended an Institute of Religion Ball (I was "too cool" to attend those, hahaha) Two years later princess Laura (as she calls herself) came along with her blond hair and blue eyes, inherited from grandma. And then came baby Camila, who is not a baby anymore, but is a little cat (as she calls herself - "gatinha"),with the same blond hair and blue eyes that made mommy happy - at least one won't envy the other in the future. Mommy is dying to have baby number three, who already has a name chosen if it is a boy - and will drive mommy crazy if it is another gril, but we all know there is a right time for everything. These people keep me busy, crazy, grateful and truly happy!

Theme 3 - Family

                                                                Name: Alisha
                                                     Location: Bairnsdale, Australia

I am the eldest of 3 kids, born and raised in a town called Geelong. I met my bestfriend/soulmate/ love of my life, who was also a Geelong boy in 2000. We married in 2004, and then moved away to Sydney just after. We had our first born, Logan while living in Sydney in 2007. Shortly after, work took us to Melbourne where we then had our daughter Indiana in 2008. She was born by energency C section, weighing a whopping 13 and a half pounds, Australias biggest baby at the time. Since 2009 we have been living in Bairnsdale, which is a 5 hour drive away from my family back in Geelong. Now that i have my own little family I do miss my family, and wish we lived closer. Family is everything to me, and the older I get, the closer we become. It makes it hard sometimes not having my Mum and Dad there to play with their only grandchildren, and just help out when im sick. And my brother lives even further away in Sydney. I also have my husbands family which are also in Geelong and Brisbane.
I am lucky to have my own little family here with me, and the rest of the family are always in my thoughts until we can one day go back home. For now in Bairnsdale my Family consists of my husband Dean, son Logan, and daughter Indiana. They are my world.

Theme 3: Family

Name: Annette
Location: Kuwait

We are a family of five. My husband is the only person I know who doesn't look ridiculous in electric blue sneakers. The red shoes are my 'mom' shoes, flat, sensible and comfy. Big Brother loves to look 'smart' and well-dressed, a boy who considers being asked to wear jeans and a t-shirt as a form of punishment. Middle Sister is all about three things: pink, sparkles and ballet, hence the pink, sparkly ballet shoes. Little Brother is the jeans and t-shirt guy, too busy thinking about cars to worry about his shoes. And somehow it all works together, the way family always does.

There are times when I wonder what life would be without these people in my life? Then I realize they bring me joy, happiness, madness, craziness, but most of all L0VE

Family--Centered around my Mom

Name:  Trinity
Location:  Mississippi Gulf Coast, USA

When I think of family, I immediately think of my mother.  She was the center of our little clan....the glue that held everything and everyone together.  So much more than merely a Mom, this great lady was my very best friend.

She loved her children, with all her heart, and would often tell us, "I'd lay down my life for one of my own."  Turns out that she did.  Through her unexpected death from an aneurysm, we learned that my younger sister had several blood clots in her brain.  One very painful, invasive brain brain surgery later, and my sister is clot free!  When I get that ache of missing her I remember her sacrifice.... her giving spirit, and think to myself how blessed I was to call her family.

Theme #4 - Sisters I Never Had

Name: Amanda
Location: Jakarta - Indonesia

"As a full time worker, I spent most of my times at work. And I can't imagine if during those hours I have to spent it with people that I can't get a long with. But I'm blessed, having them. They're not just a bunch of 'friend at work' but they also my family. Sisters I never had. Somehow.. sometimes.. I feel more close to them than my cousins whom I should call 'family.'"

Theme #3 - family

Ha ha ha....This weeks theme is Family. What does family mean to you? Maybe it's the ones you live with - your own family unit. Maybe it's that good friend who has become like a second mother to you, sister or an aunt. See what Family means and looks like to our 7 ladies from around the world this week!

My Town - the view

My Town - the Mountains

Name: Megan
Location: Utah, USA

"We have only lived in Utah a few years but I never get tired of this sight. I love the town we live in because it's nestled right up against these mountains. It takes us a little over 5 minutes to be in the mountains and starting to hike. It's great to live in the city yet close to escaping from it." - Megan

My Town

                                                                                              Name: Alisha

I live in a Country town called Bairnsdale. We are surrounded by Lakes, Rivers, Ocean, Mountains, Bush, and the Country.  My family moved here just over 3 years ago for work, and we do love it here, but we do miss our hometown.  This photo was taken down by the Lake, just behind my Street.

Stuck in traffic!

Annette
Kuwait

I spend a lot of time driving. A lot. Gasoline is inexpensive here (it costs us $18 to fill the tank on our gas-guzzling Tahoe) and people here love driving, or rather sitting in traffic in expensive cars. The roads here terrified me when I first arrived seven years ago, and now the idea of six inches between me and the car in front of me (and beside me and behind me) seems like quite a luxury. Beep beep.
